Cameron Highlands trekking: Jungle and tea plantations
Last post: Home from home in Tanah Rata (SEA 10)
Hitchhiking in Cameron Highlands
The weather was perfect and we started right after breakfast to hike one oft he Cameron Highlands Jungle Trails around Tanah Rata. I was with my flat mate Matthias I met in Kuala Lumpur. We walked through the small village and at the end we started to hitchhike to Brinchang. After 5 seconds the first car stopped. An old married couple took us to our starting point.
Surrounded by jungle
From there we started the muddy trail. We had to climb big roots and saw many huge plants we haven´t seen before. It wasn´t easy because of the heavy rainfall the night before. But as we all know: No pain – No gain! At noon and after 3 hours we made it up to the top of Gunung Brinchang.
Mossy Forest
There we had could climb a few steps up to a viewpoint to enjoy the fantastic view on the Cameron Highlands. From there we walked back on the small street and mad a stop at the Mossy Forest. The mossy forest is a natural environment that grows only at the highest elevations of Cameron Highlands and other mountain ranges across Malaysia.
Tea plantations everywhere
The rest of our route was downhill through the impressive and beautiful tea plantations of the Cameron Highlands. We made a serval of stops to take pictures and to enjoy the view. We came back to Brinchang and hitchhiked back to Tanah Rata where we had another good homemade dinner at the Orchid Lodge. This time I also made a Yellow Curry.
